The magic began in the year 1999, when Conrad Walsh (drums), Andrew Cobabe (keyboard), David Espenschied (guitar), and Chad Ethington (bass) met during their freshman year at Viewmont high (Bountiful, Utah). The aforementioned individuals played rock tunes together from time to time with various other peers, but no solid band was formed.
Finally, about a year later, Conrad, Andrew, Dave, and Chad formed the band which was to be known as "Electric Gravy." Electric Gravy took Davis County music scene by storm, playing at multiple locations such as the Delta Center, Bountiful City functions, and local eateries.
Tragically, summer after senior year (2001), Electric Gravy bass player, Chad Ethington, passed away in a boating accident. After a period of mourning, Electric Gravy continued to play as a trio, with keyboarder Andrew Cobabe playing both keyboard and synth-bass.
In 2002, the band members parted their separate ways for a two year hiatus. In 2004, they reconvened at Brigham Young University, revived the band and after many grueling weeks of deep thought, debate, laughter and tears, renamed the band "Rockwell."
